Maria Millie Elena Vera

Maria “Millie” Elena Vera, age 63, a resident of Corpus Christi, Texas and a former resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2010 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on October 5, 1946 in Kingsville to Jesus and Elena Gutierrez Lopez. Mrs. Vera was employed as a public school teacher for the Corpus Christi and Ben Bolt Independent School District until her retirement. She was also employed as a real estate agent for Group One, Corpus Christi, Texas.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Abel A. Vera of Corpus Christi; son, Alfredo Vera of Corpus Christi; mother, Elena G. Lopez of Kingsville; sister, Priscilla Bookman of San Antonio, Texas; and two brothers, Jesus Lopez of Houston, Texas and Manuel Lopez of Flint, Michigan.

Rosary will be recited at 8:45 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2010 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel, Kingsville. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Kingsville. Burial will follow in Kingsville at the Santa Gertrudis Cemetery.
