Nicolas G. Garza

On Friday, September 23, 2011 we lost our beloved father, the rock of our family, Nicolas G. Garza at the age of 71 at his home in Riviera, Texas. He was surrounded with love by his family at his bedside. He was born February 6, 1940 in Riviera to Nicolas Garza Sr. and Sofia Garcia Garza. Mr. Garza was employed for Kleberg County, Precint 3, for over 20 years until his retirement. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.

Mr. Garza is survived by his wife of 50 years, Magdalena D. Garza of Riviera; two daughters, Norma Garza Zavala (Daniel T. Zavala) and Emilia Garza Medellin, both of Riviera; three sons, Joe D. Garza (Mary Garza) of Corpus Christi, Rene D. Garza (Mary M. Garza) and Nicolas D. Garza III, both of Riviera; one sister, Esmeralda Jimenez (Norberto Jimenez) of Seguin, Texas; two brothers, Librado Garza of Kingsville and Felipe Garza (Eva Garza) of Centro, California; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close friends.

Visitation will take place on Monday, September 26, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 26, 2011 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Riviera, with Fr. Peter Antony as celebrant. Burial will follow in Riviera, Texas at Riviera Cemetery.

Nicolas was a loving husband, a wonderful father, and an amazing grandfather. All who knew him adored him for the caring, kind-hearted person that he was; a friend to all. He will be truly missed. We love you now and forever.
