Patricia McCall Yates

Patricia “Pat” McCall Yates, 81, a long-time resident of Kingsville, Texas, died May 22, 2012 at Hospice Austin – Christopher House in Austin, Texas. She spent the last five years at retirement communities in Corpus Christi and Cedar Park, Texas. She was born September 12, 1930 in Flatonia, Texas. Pat was a graduate of Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos, Texas. She was an active member of St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church and participated in Altar Society, Bereavement Committee coordinating and preparing countless funeral meals, as well as numerous other committees. Pat volunteered over 12,000 hours at Christus Spohn Hospital-Kleberg. Pat enjoyed baking breads and pastries; crocheting afghans for family, friends and fund raisers; playing bridge; and reading. The most important thing to Pat was her family; she was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, C. David Yates and her infant son, William David Yates.

Pat is survived by seven children, Mary Sullivan (Mike) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Patti Bourland (Gregg) of Jonestown, Texas, Howard Yates (Teresa) of Kingsville, Texas, Carol McConnell (Lee) of Fort Worth, Texas, John Yates of Lago Vista, Texas, Lou Ann Hicks (Bill) of San Antonio, Texas, and Robert Yates (Brooke) of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Dorothy Fountain of San Antonio, Texas and Mildred Jenkins of Dickinson, Texas; and 11 grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 25, 2012 at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Chamberlain Cemetery.
