Paul Studnicka, age 81, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born November 4, 1931 in Farwell, Nebraska to Gilbert Studnicka and Mildred Strickler Studnicka.
Paul was employed by The Pitzer Ranch near Ericson, Nebraska for 17 years. He and Dr. George Baker were responsible for breeding up to 400 mares a year for a couple of years breeding to this stallion – “Two Eyed Jack.” This is the reason for his next employment at the King Ranch due to his remarkable reputation with his job at The Pitzer Ranch. Afterwards, he was employed by the King Ranch for 20 years until his retirement in 2000. At the King Ranch, the breeding stallion was known as “Little Peppy.” He was a brood mare manager most of his life. After his retirement from the King Ranch, he enjoyed working at "The Mud Hole" taking care of cattle and horses that he so dearly enjoyed. Paul’s hobbies were hunting, fishing and taking care of animals… a true outdoorsman! He was a member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brian; and parents. Mr. Studnicka is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jonell Harkins Studnicka; one son, Brent Studnicka; one sister, Doris Earnest of North Loup, Nebraska; and two brothers, Bob Studnicka (Lois) of Burwell, Nebraska and Don Studnicka (Kathy) of North Loup.
