Margaret was born on March 18, 1944, the fifth of nine children to Bob and Elisa. She attended school in Kennedy and had fond memories she loved to share on being a part of a large family on the farm. She married her neighbour, Earl Debenham Oct. 30, 1970 and they built a house in Kennedy, where they lived for the rest of their days until she moved to the Kipling Care Facility in 2021.
Margaret worked at the St. Hubert Care Home, Bank of Montreal and Sherwood Credit Union before getting married. She moved back to Kennedy to work at the local Credit Union before taking over the books and help run the Imperial Oil Business that she and Earl owned for 20 years. When they sold their oil business, Margaret went back to school to become a Home Care Aid and spent several years working at Willowdale Lodge in Kipling until her retirement.
Margaret was an avid community volunteer; treasurer of the Kennedy Ag Society, 4-H Leader, Kennedy Housing Manager, Figure Skating Treasurer, Anglican Church Treasurer, as well as donating items whenever asked for different community functions. She audited books for local organizations for over 25 years. Her main passion in her retirement years was history. She played an instrumental role in creating 3 history books for Kennedy, of which many hours were spent sorting pictures and writing. Many families would reach out to her for help to research their own family trees.
Margaret and Earl took great pride in their family and enjoyed raising Laurie and Larry in Kennedy and then later watching them marry and start their own families. They attended as many grandkid’s events as they could and they would often be heard bragging how great those 4 kids were. If help was needed, Margaret would drop everything to lend a hand for her family. She will be greatly missed.
Margaret moved into the Kipling Integrated Care Facility in June 2021 after her Dementia had progressed to where she could not stay alone. In lieu of flowers, donations in memoriam may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301-2550 12th Ave. Regina, SK., S4P 3X1, as a token of remembrance.
A private interment service to be held at a later date in St. Paul’s Anglican Parish Cemetery,Langbank, SK.
