March 1945 – June 25, 2025
Orlando, FL
Daniel Duncan Grassi, beloved husband, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on June
25, 2025, in Orlando, Florida, at the age of 80. Born in Albany, New York, Dan traveled
extensively for his chosen career and then later, settled in Florida, where he built a life of love,
adventure, and friendship.
Dan served his country as a Radio Engineer in the US Marine Corps, from 1967 to 1973, in the 6th Marine Corps District.
Dan’s civilian career spanned 70 years, from small business ownership of an electronics
company, to Software Development and ultimately retired as a Software Architect. Dan
enjoyed challenge and was constantly learning new things. He had a brilliant and unique mind,
with a passion for solving problems and creating systems that helped shape the world he lived
in. His colleagues and peers admired his ability to take on absolutely any impossible task and
finish it with a (sometimes unconventional) but workable solution.
His friends and family admired and benefited from his relentless drive to improve and fix
anything in need of repair—whether it was technological, electrical, carpentry or a broken pipe
under his kitchen at Thanksgiving. He could always be depended on.
Dan loved global travel, he found joy in exploring new places, immersing himself in different
cultures, and experiencing the world in all of its magnitude. His travels were not just about
seeing new sights, but also about immersing himself in the culture and environment as well as
connecting with the people who lived there. Italy, particularly Florence, was Dan’s favorite
place on the planet.
Dan is survived by his wife of 30 years, Colette Broadway, his brother-in-law Paul Broadway
and his cousins, Kim Grassi, Susan Grassi, Christine Grassi and Patricia Dance. Dan was kind,
compassionate and had a wonderful sense of humor with a love of life. Dan will be deeply
missed by those who knew him, especially for his generosity, sharp wit, and the quiet way he
made the world better, one small step at a time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Grissom Funeral Home in Kissimmee, Florida.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 10:00 am at Grissom Funeral Home at
