David built his working life as a design scenery painter, bringing steady skill and pride to his craft through years of hard work. Those who knew him best will remember not only his dedication, but also the quiet generosity he showed in the ways he gave of himself—often without fanfare, and sometimes with a dry, well-timed sarcasm that could lighten the moment and make others feel at ease.
Above all, David’s most important role was within his family: as a father, step-father, and grandpa. His kind heart was most evident in the love he carried for his family and in the time he chose to spend with them—especially during holidays shared with family and friends, when togetherness mattered most. He also cared deeply about children in need, by donating to St. Jude as an expression of his selfless concern for others.
David also loved the beach, finding simple peace in the shoreline and the time it offered to slow down and be present.
David is survived by his children, Alexis, Karisa, and Alisha, and Geurin Vaccaro; life partner, Dawn; sister Terri; and his brother Sam. David also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, 4 nieces and 2 nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene Abbey Vaccaro.
David will be remembered with respect and gratitude—for the work he did, the love he gave, and the steady presence he brought to the lives of those who were fortunate to know him.
