
Edward graduated from John Jay College, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice—an education that reflected his steady sense of purpose and commitment to the work he chose to do.
For the majority of his working life, Edward served with the New York City Police Department. His career stood as a testament to a life shaped by responsibility, discipline, and a deep respect for service.
Edward was married to Marcia Cecilia Puig-Santiago on August 1, 1990.
He was a member of the Sergeant's Benevolent Association as well as the Hispanic Society Police Department. In his personal time, Edward found enjoyment in casinos, and he followed sports with loyal enthusiasm—especially baseball (the Yankee's) and football (the New York Giants). He also loved the TV show, Gunsmoke, a familiar favorite that suited his appreciation for tradition and straightforward storytelling.
He is survived by his children Edward Santos Santiago, William A. Santiago, Cynthia Santiago, Crystal C. Santiago, and Valerie Puig-Torres; his grandchildren Stephanie Delgado, Steven Ramos, Aolani Moloney, Sergio Lertuche, Anthony Santiago, Ashley Santiago, Mia Faith Quiles, Madison Pedro, Shilah Ramos, Michael Studwoof, Aaliyah Rodriguez, Aaeri Moloney, and Charlize Jackson; and his siblings Alfredo Santiago, Sonia Santiago, and Juan Santiago
Visitation will be held at Grissom Funeral Home and Crematory, 803 Emmett Street, Kissimmee, FL 34741, on May 8, 2026, starting at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that other expressions of sympathy be offered in his memory.
