Elizabeth Betty J. Fields Fox

Mrs. Elizabeth “Betty” J. Fox, 88, of St. Cloud, FL passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Born September 16, 1923 in Indianola, FL, she was the daughter of the late John Fields and the late Eva Ramsey Fields. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Roy Eden, Charles Eden, Barbara Ann Eden, Frank Eden, and George “Happy” Eden.

A member of America’s greatest generation, Betty proudly served her country as an Army nurse during WW II. In addition to her almost 40 year career as a nurse, Betty was a lifelong caregiver having raised 5 children and taking care of her husband and home. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Once she and Joseph had retired, Betty enjoyed traveling and cruising. She was also a faithful member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in St. Cloud. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, Betty would have celebrated 67 wonderful married years to Joseph this November.

She is survived by her adoring husband of 66 years, Joseph P. Fox; her children and their spouses, Ellen and George Takash of Fair Lawn, NJ, Patrick and Peggy Fox of Newport News, VA, Michael and Lynn Fox of St. Cloud, FL, Catherine Mary and James Klink of St. Charles, IL, and James and Deborah Fox of Davenport, FL; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; her brother, Phillip Eden of Deerfield Beach, FL; her sisters, Violet Delaney of St. Cloud, FL and Gwen Mary of Interlachen, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 28, 2012 from 6 - 9 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home and Crematory. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. The family respectfully requests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, June 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Burial with military honors will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
