Born March 17, 1924 in Walnut Township, Adair County, Iowa, the son of Charles and Grace Fitzgerald Ticknor. Lt. Col. Ticknor moved to the Central Florida area from Omaha, Nebraska in 1970. Lt. Col. Ticknor enlisted in the United States military during World War II and flew combat missions over Japan. He was a career officer in the United States Air Force until he retired in August of 1970. He set many flying records during his time in the Air Force and was an early pioneer in Air Force jet aircraft. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Kissimmee for nearly 50 years. He was a member of the Elks Club and the Kissimmee Yacht Club. Lt. Col. Ticknor and his wife enjoyed travel and had man enjoyable days touring America in their motor home.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Marie Ticknor of Orlando, Florida; son, Thomas Ticknor of Orlando, Florida and his wife Donna; 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
A Military Honors Memorial Service will be at Florida National Cemetery at a date that is to be determined.
