Franklin Paul Johnson, 72, passed away at Osceola Regional Medical Center, Thursday, March 15, 2018. Frank was born in Daytona Beach, Florida, November 14, 1945. He grew up in Flagler County and moved to Longwood for high school.
Frank was a three year veteran of the United States Army, 1967-70. He served in Korea. He went into the air conditioning business and studied to become a Certified Air Conditioning Contractor serving Osceola County for 42 years. He retired in 2008.
Frank loved playing tennis and the sport of tennis. He and his wife, Gayle, met playing tennis. They continued to play and met so many wonderful people and friends over the years. He had 20 years of volunteer service to the Kissimmee Tennis Association. He arranged tournaments, coached the youth, and wrote articles for the Orlando Sentinel.
Frank was also an accomplished artist in pen and ink and photography. He was a member of the Florida Lighthouse Association and enjoyed visiting and taking pictures of lighthouses. He loved crossword puzzles and woodworking. Frank built many pieces of furniture.
Frank is survived by Gayle Metcalf Johnson, his wife of 33 years. He was the only son of Jack Johnson and Myrtle Aycock Johnson who preceded him in death.
Frank was a kind, and considerate man. He always had a joke to share. He was a loving husband and you could never have a better friend.
The family will receive friends at Grissom Funeral Home on Sunday, March 18 from 1pm to 2pm with light refreshments and a service will be at 2pm. The family will have a private burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Kissimmee. Arrangements entrusted to Grissom Funeral Home. www.grissomfh.com.
