Geraldine “Geri” Marie O’Brien passed away on October 8, 2026, at the age of 95, leaving behind a loving family and many friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Geri was a special lady, beautiful inside and out, with a wonderful personality and a gift for making friends wherever she went. She was a true social butterfly who loved being surrounded by family and friends and was always ready to make a new connection or share a good laugh. Mom made friends practically everywhere she went!
She enjoyed an active social life filled with bowling leagues, square dancing, playing euchre, traveling with family and friends, spending time with her Red Hatters, and enjoying Tuesday night bingo. One of her favorite games was Dirty Marbles, and she practically took the crown every time! Those who played with her knew she was a force to be reckoned with, and those moments will surely bring smiles to the faces of everyone who knew her.
Geri also treasured her church family. After church on Sundays, she loved heading to Denny’s to enjoy a meal and visit with her favorite waitress, Monica. It was just one more example of how Geri made friends everywhere she went. Whether she was out enjoying lunch, playing bingo, participating in her favorite activities, or simply spending time with others, she had a special way of making people feel welcome and turning ordinary moments into treasured memories.
At home, Geri was always willing to open her doors to family and friends. Her home was a place where loved ones could gather, spend time together, and feel welcome. She was a loving mother, a wonderful grandmother, and an awesome great-grandmother who held a special place in the hearts of her family.
Geri was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Francis “Bud” O’Brien.
She leaves behind her daughter, Susan O’Brien; her son, Douglas O’Brien, and his wife, Donna; and her cherished grandchildren: Stephanie Wynalek Owens, Brad Wynalek, Brett Wynalek, Miles O’Brien, and Brandi O’Brien.
She was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren: Royce Owens, Ruth Owens, Benjamin Owens, Rebekah Owens, Kyle O’Brien, Micah O’Brien, Henry O’Brien, and Hayes Wynalek.
Geri’s life was filled with family, friendship, laughter, and love. She had a way of bringing people together and making connections that lasted. Her welcoming heart, fun-loving spirit, and love for those around her will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
