Harry R Parker

A celebration of Harry's life will be held at 1pm on Friday, November 20, 2015 at St. John's Episcopal Church, Kissimmee, Florida. Reverend Cecil Radcliff will be officiating. Harry's ashes will be interred at the St. John's Prayer Garden as well as Grandview Cemetery in Salem, Ohio.

Harry was born on January 22, 1930 in Youngstown, Ohio to Roy and Bertha Parker.

During the Korean Conflict he served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. As a member of the First Marines, he fought valiantly at the Chosin Reservoir and is one of the "Chosin Few". Harry was awarded a medal for service during the Korean Conflict by The Korea Freedom League. After the war, he worked in the auto glass industry first as an installer, then a manager and then owner of his own small business. He coached Little League Baseball. Harry was active in the Lions Club International and was honored as a Melvin Jones Fellow in recognition of his dedication to humanitarian services.

When Harry retired he moved to Kissimmee where he and his wife, Lucinda, were active members of the St. John's Episcopal Church community.

Harry was a avid sports fan who loved the Yankees, the Magic and NASCAR. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, patriotism and love of family.

Harry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lucinda Hole Parker; his daughter Lori Parker-Hartigan and her husband, Bill Hartigan of Arlington, MA; and his son, Stephen Parker and his wife Sheri Parker of Las Vegas, NV. Five grandchildren, Wil and Aidan Hartigan of Arlington, MA; Sommer Lamie-Schager of Brighton, CO, Heather Miller of Greeley, CO and Brandon Boss of Las Vegas, NV. He has five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Grace Meyers of Crystal Beach, FL.

Memorial donations in Harry's memory may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church with a memo to "Harry Parker Memorial Fund". This fund will be used to support the upkeep of the St. John's Prayer Garden. Donations may be sent to St. John's Episcopal Church, 1709 North John Young Parkway, Kissimmee, FL 34741.
