Hector M. Crespo

Born on April 25, 1952, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, to Jose Crespo Soto and Maria Vargas, Hector lived a life defined by deep faith, selfless service, and relentless devotion to his family and community.

On June 25, 1977, he married the love of his life, Carmen S. Crespo, beginning a partnership of nearly five decades rooted in shared purpose and unwavering love.

Hector’s calling in life was pastoral care. For over 40 years, he served as a devoted pastor, guiding countless souls with wisdom, warmth, and grace. He extended his ministry beyond church walls, serving as President of the Clergy Association, hosting a radio program on Radio Visión Cristiana, and acting as a chaplain for the MTA and several hospitals across New York City. In the darkest moments following September 11, Hector answered the call to serve as a 9/11 coordinator, helping recover bodies at Ground Zero and ministering to grieving families with profound compassion. Alongside his spiritual work, he spent over 40 years as a respected property manager, earning a reputation as an honest, tireless provider for his family.

To know Hector was to know joy. Proudly referring to himself as the “Best of Brooklyn,” he was a radiant light filled with infectious charisma and energy. A natural jokester, he had a gift for bringing laughter into any room and almost never lacked a warm smile on his face. Whether offering food, shelter, counsel, or prayer, Hector lived his faith in practical action, giving everything of himself in service to Christ and others.

Hector’s legacy lives on through his beloved family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Carmen S. Crespo; his children, Hector M. Crespo Jr., Grisela Crespo, and Zaira Crespo; his cherished grandchildren, Jordan Huertas, Krista Crespo, and Derek Crespo; and his siblings, Ernesto Crespo, Jose Crespo, Clara Crespo and Juanita Crespo. He will now reunite with his Mom, dad and other siblings, Luis Crespo, Victor Crespo, Rosa Garcia, and Marta Garcia to dance and rejoice in the presence of our lord and savior.
