James Charles Bainbridge (Jim), 71, passed away April 24, 2017, after a 19-month battle with cancer, surrounded by those that loved him, including his fur babies. Jim was born July 12, 1945 in Atlantic City, New Jersey to Herbert and Sara Bainbridge, who preceded him in death.
Jim was a retired Osceola County Sheriff’s Deputy. He began his law enforcement career in February 1969 as a Police Officer for the Linwood Police Department in Linwood, New Jersey; he was a Sergeant with the department for 10 years. After moving to Kissimmee, he began working for the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office in February 1981 as one of the Sheriff’s Office’s first motorcycle officers. He was proud to wear the uniform and badge. He was on motors for 18 years; he was also on patrol, DUI Squad and worked as a court deputy. He retired June 29, 2007.
Jim was a true Corvette enthusiast, having owned several through the years. He loved his Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. One of his favorite things to say during football season was, “Fly, Eagles, Fly!” He always supported his teams, even when they lost. Jim also loved the Minions, especially Stuart. Jim and Charlotte enjoyed Corvette car shows; he loved showing his Corvette, and when he won a trophy, he had the biggest smile. He served as President of the Tri-County Corvette Club for several years.
Friday nights were “wing nights” – everyone who knew Jim knew his love for hot wings. Jim was a simple man. His pride and joy were his fur babies, Blaze and Dexter and bird, Jake. Jim enjoyed trips to Sea World with Charlotte and a special friend.
Jim is survived by his soulmate and best friend, Charlotte Bainbridge; fur babies Blaze, Dexter and Jake; his in-laws, nephews, nieces and other family members; and, so many friends.
