Joseph Anthony D'Amato Jr.

Joseph Anthony D'Amato Jr., 79, was born on February 20, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and passed away on October 27, 2026. A resident of Kissimmee, Florida, Joseph will be remembered with deep respect for a life marked by steadfast service, devotion to family, and the quiet strength of a man who met each season of life with purpose.

Joseph spent his formative years in Torrance, California, where he attended elementary school, middle school, and high school. In elementary school, Joseph served as an altar boy, an early reflection of the sense of responsibility and reverence that would continue to shape his life. He attended Bishop Montgomery in high school, where he played both basketball and football. As the quarterback, Joseph earned a letterman jacket—an achievement that spoke to his discipline, leadership, and commitment to his team.

In his working life, Joseph dedicated himself to public service in several roles. He worked with the LAPD as an undercover cop, and later served as a cop for the V.A. in Los Angeles. After his time in law enforcement, Joseph continued his steady work ethic with the postal service in Hermosa Beach, California.

Joseph later moved to the San Bernardino National Forest, and during that time he worked for the Rim of the World School District in Arrowhead. Nearly six years ago, Joseph relocated from California to Florida, continuing his life’s journey with the same resolve that had guided him through so many changes and responsibilities.

Those who knew Joseph also knew the enjoyment he found in simple, enduring pastimes. He really enjoyed golfing and fishing—activities that offered both quiet reflection and the kind of satisfaction that comes from patience, skill, and time well spent.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Jill D'Amato; his children, Jennifer Nguyen and Matthew D'Amato; and his sister, Marie Cafarchia.

Visitation will be held at Grissom Funeral Home and Crematory, 803 Emmett Street, Kissimmee, FL 34741, on November 11, 2026, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
