Linda Susan Cook
August 28, 1959 – April 19, 2021
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Linda Susan Cook, our loving, kind and compassionate mother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on April 19, 2021. She was in her 61st year. She was born August 28, 1959 in Minot, North Dakota, a daughter of the late Effie Vickers and Lonnie Cook.
For most of her life she lived in the Central Florida areas, Kissimmee and St. Cloud but in her young adult life she traveled frequently throughout the United States. Once settled in Florida she made a career in landscaping and exhibited great passion for all things outdoors. She loved being outside around plants and it showed tremendously through her passion for the flowers in her garden.
Our mother was a beautiful person, with a heart that matched. She was kind, compassionate and loving. She was an avid reader that loved to write poetry and beautiful handwritten letters. She was funny and quirky and loved more than anything spending time with her grandchildren. She was deeply sentimental and once she loved you, she loved you forever.
In the year after the initial onset of her heart condition, she prided herself on growing beautiful flowers, starting a vegetable garden, and spending time with her friend Nilda. She stayed active in our lives, and was able to enjoy holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays and anniversaries with people she loved. Her dear friend and caretaker, Nilda Casta spent everyday with our mother making sure that her medication was taken, running errands, and often acted as a sounding board for our mother when she most needed it. I cannot quantify into words how much it meant for our mother to have a friend like Nilda. We are deeply appreciative of who Nilda was to her. Thank you Nilda, for everything.
Our mother was predeceased by her mother Effie Vickers (Bronson) and father, Lonnie Cook. Survivors include her daughter, Amanda Rice & husband, Michael Rice, Winter Springs, FL, daughter, Krissy Bronson, Moss-Point, MI; her brother, Thomas Cook, Davenport, FL, her sister; Cyndi Glasheen & husband, Rodney Glasheen, Kissimmee, FL and sister, Sharon Norris, Kissimmee, FL. Our mother had seven grandchildren whom she cared deeply for; Elsie, Luther, Aiden, Renea, Lilie, Rosa and Daisey. Lastly, she leaves behind many family members; nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles that have not been mentioned here but are definitely not forgotten. She leaves behind dear friends, Terry Iannoconi, Janey & Tammie Stegall, Rose Rogers and Nilda Casta. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
