Mary Grace Hughes Ragan

Mary Ragan was born into a large and loving Irish family that taught her the value of working hard and nurturing others with compassion and benevolence. She dedicated her life to raising not only her own children, but giving of her time, talent and energy to all who knew her. She sprinkled smiles everywhere with her wonderful sense of humor and playful antics.

She loved many things in her 76 years of life, but foremost was family and friends. Mary adored being a Mother and Grandmother and would always have a story about the travels and adventures she experienced with her loved ones. Memories of her children when they were growing up and life with her family in both Ohio and Florida were always topics of conversation.

Although Mary sacrificed endlessly as a single mother to provide for her family, she was never too busy to be there for any of her kids when needed. She used her professional sewing talents to create imaginative clothing and costumes for all of her children. In later years, she enjoyed assembling special memory photo quilts to give as treasured gifts.

Mary used her creative talents in her work as a seamstress at Walt Disney World, where she made many dear friends. Her love of the Disney Parks continued even after her retirement. She was selflessly generous with sharing her Disney tickets, enabling other to enjoy and spread the magic.

Not only will Mary be missed by those who love her but she will carry on in their hearts. Her grace, strength, and sense of humor will live on in her family and friends. Mary had a profound impact on all who knew her and in some cases, she changed and saved lives of those she took under her wing.

Mary is survived by her five children: Beth Ragan Hazelwood, Patrick Ragan, Marjorie Ragan Jenkins, Paul Ragan, Valerie Fracul, their spouses, as well as 15 grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren. She will be so greatly missed by so many friends and family members who have been touched by her gifts of creative talents, loving compassion, and generous nature.
