He lived in Smithfield, Toranto, Steubenville, Ohio and Weirton West Virgina until 1963. Melvin worked until 1974 for Weirton and Nation Steel Corporation, and was a well-known musician who played saxophone and clarinet in various bands and orchestras in Ohio, West Virginia and Tampa, Florida.
Melvin is preceded in death by his wife Anna Irene Varner Lewis (Oct 1, 2005); son David Alan Lewis (May 13, 1973); sister Taddy Morrison (June 2012); and sister Susie (Sept 2013). He is survived by; Daughter Deborah Keefer(Wade); sister Carol(Dan) Lyons; Nieces and Nephews, Lynn, Holly and Becky (son Jacob) and Paul Jr.; Grandchildren, Anna Meeks, Joseph (Jennifer) Meeks, Josh Keefer and Lori Strecker; and by Great-grandchildren, Joey,& Jesse Meeks, Lauren, Logan and Layton Strecker.
