Nancy was born in Cloquet, Minnesota and was raised a small town girl. Her winters were spent in many feet of snow and summers at their lakeside cabin, blueberry picking and fishing. She met the love of her life Lee R. Hartmann while at Iowa State University and quickly started their lives together raising four wonderful children. They were married 56 years before Lee lost his battle with cancer 10 years ago. Their journey together brought them many adventures whether it be traveling back to the lakes in Minnesota or to the beautiful beaches in Hawaii. Nancy even got Lee over to Europe several times to visit her Finnish relatives and good friends in London and Italy.
Nancy and Lee raised their children starting in Minnesota, Iowa, Waldwick, NJ, Allendale, NJ and Bradenton, Florida. Nancy’s greatest pleasure has been watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up and enjoying as many or their activities as possible. She was affectionately known as Grandma and Mimi. Nancy and Lee welcomed them all to boating on the lakes of New Jersey and New York, spending time on the beaches of Bradenton, boating off Anna Maria Island and countless hours in their pool. She has always tried to instill the importance of family and love. Nancy is very proud of her Finnish heritage and would like her family to remember her for that. Often referring to her “Sisu” which means “Strength of will, determination, perseverance”. Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Lee Robert, her parents Archie and Mae Lumppio, her In laws William and Adele Hartmann
and her brother and sister in law Richard and Remy Hartmann.
She is survived by her children David, Kissimmee, Fl., Debbie and John O’Donoghue, Middletown, NJ and Pinehurst, NC, Lori and Brian Wall, Priest River, ID and Diane and Tim Lytle, Kissimmee, Fl. Grandchildren John Patrick, Brendan (Georgia), Jeff (Laura), Drew (Tiffany), Emma, Faith, Sarah and Ethan. Great grandchildren Peter, Gerard, Michael, Robert and Catherine. Her brother and sister in law James and Carol Lumppio, Eden Prairie, MN. as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins.
