Born in Queens, NY in 1930, her family left the big city in the late 1940’s to become chicken farmers in upstate Burlington Flats. After graduating from Edmeston Central School, Patricia (Pat) received a nursing degree from St. Mary’s Hospital in Syracuse.
She stayed in the area, married and raised six children.
An active person, she was a Cub Scout Den Mother, “Mothers’ Club” chairperson, worked as a sales clerk, a food broker for Syracuse Merchandisers and at the Syracuse University Athletic department. In the early 1990’s, she retired to the warmer and less humid Kissimmee, FL where she dabbled in painting, country dancing and served as board member and president of her Homeowners Association. In Florida as in New York, she was known for her willingness to help and love of a good argument.
Pat also had many interests, her homes always filled with books, art, music, animals and the antiques and trinkets she loved to collect. A prolific crocheter, she created an untold number of afghans that grace beds and sofas in multiple states. She liked to cook and, as long as the meat, starch and two vegetable requirements were met, family and friends enjoyed anything from paella to Weight Watcher’s veal patties.
She will be greatly missed by her children Clement III (Donna) of Bronx, NY, Christine (John) Clark of Fayetteville, NY, Anna-Marie of Tampa, FL, William (Ramona) and John of Syracuse, NY and Michael of Kissimmee, FL, who kept a watchful eye on her for the last dozen years. Her grandchildren Elizabeth Clark, John Clark, Anna Russo, Olivia (Neal) Wagner, Lauren Annese, John Colucci and Rachel Colucci will remember her fondly.
In celebration of her life, please enjoy a dish of your favorite ice cream.
