August 22, 1934 - January 13, 2019
Ron was born in Hoboken, New Jersey, the only child of Grace (nee Wilson) and Harry Warnock. Ron graduated from Spring Valley High School, where he was a multi sport athlete, participating in baseball, basketball, football, and swimming. He joined the Navy (1952-1955) right out of high school and was a member of their baseball team. After his service, Ron attended the University of Maryland and the College at Courtland, where he earned a Bachelors Degree, in 1958. In that same year, Ron married the love of his life, Barbara "Bonni" (nee Adkins) Warnock. He and his new wife began their married life at Washington State, where he earned a Master's Degree. The young couple then moved to Cattaraugus, NY, where Ron took a job as a teacher and coach. After settling in, they added to their family with the birth of their first child, Debbie Lee on April 3, 1961 and their second child, Kevin Daniel on August 16, 1962. In 1965, Ron started his PhD program at Florida State University, accepted a job at Miami-Dade Community College as a Sports Information Director, and welcomed their third child, Dawn Marie, April 24, 1965. Ron worked hard to support his family and spent summers in Tallahassee, working on his doctoral degree. In 1974, he earned his Doctorate Degree in Exercise Physiology, marking an era that began the love and devotion to the Seminoles and carrying on a legacy to his children (Debbie, Kevin (Paige), and Dawn), grandchildren (Brian Lavoie Jr.(Jill), Casey Lavoie (Nick), Dominick Colucci, Daniel Warnock (Ashley), Tyler Warnock, Nico Colucci, Austin Warnock (Michelle), Enzo Colucci, Gianna Colucci and Reece Warnock), and great grandchildren (Layla Charles, Kaydence Warnock, Mya Charles, Kamryn Warnock, and Nolan Lavoie). Ron 's career at Miami-Dade Community College spanned 33 years and took him from Sports Information Director, to Assistant Athletic Director, to Athletic Director and earned him numerous awards, accolades, the respect of his co-workers and lifelong friends. After retiring from MDCC, Ron and Bonni packed up and moved to Cupertino, CA, where Ron accepted the position as Dean of Athletics and Physical Education Administration at DeAnza College from 1998-2004. They thoroughly enjoyed their time on the West Coast and remain close to many of the friends they made in California. Retirement, however, stuck this time, and the loving couple moved back to the East Coast and settled in, Solivita, Poinciana, Florida, in their beautiful home on the golf course. Poinciana brought them closer to their family, and Ron was blessed with wonderful friends every step of the way. Ron has always been surrounded with the love and respect of his family, friends and peers. A wonderful role model, leader, friend and father. Ron will be greatly missed and we will always treasure every memory.
