Kathleen Mary Gregory

GREGORY, Kathleen Mary (nee Winstanley) Passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, in Victoria, BC, in her 103rd year. Beloved wife of the late John (Jack) Henry (1993). Sister of Margaret Devlin of Vancouver. Predeceased by beloved daughter Margaret Rose (1947). Mother and mother-in-law of Peter (Joy) Gregory of Victoria, Elizabeth Gregory and Jay Smith of Vancouver, Barbara (Dan) Stashuk of Waterloo. Grandma to Sara Gregory (Ian Bekker), Tania Muir (Brad), Darcy Smith (Zsuzsuanna Ehn), Mason Smith (Nicola Hersey), Kari Stashuk (Jon Curran) and Gregory Stashuk (Colleen Reinhart). Triple "G" great-grandma to Miia and Daniel Bekker; Cohen and Beckett Muir; Arianna, Jasper and Elliot Smith; Hayden and Benjamin Curran. Kathleen was born in London, England on June 21, 1913, and moved to Winnipeg in 1922. There she met the "boy next door," Jack. She graduated from The University of Manitoba with a degree in Home Economics. She and Jack were married in Winnipeg on September 7, 1937. They moved first to Toronto and then to Kitchener, where they stayed for work and family life until 1986. Upon Jack's retirement, the lure of family, a warmer climate and lots of golf for Jack drew them to Victoria. Kath loved to spend time with her growing family and was frequently seen knitting or baking her highly sought-after pies. Kath also enjoyed contributing to the Trinity United Church community and was active with several women's groups. She was an admirer of wildlife, and especially enjoyed watching the birds at play in her back yard. At Kathleen's request, there will be no funeral service.
