Muriel Hurst

Passed away at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital with her family by her side on Sunday, February 26, 2012, at the age of 87 years. Beloved wife of the late Bill Hurst, who predeceased her in 2010. Muriel joined her husband on what would have been their 57th wedding anniversary. She is predeceased by her parents, Edward and Elsie Hogg, and a brother Jack.

Loving mother of Stephen (Susan), Stuart (Janice), Suzanne, and Tony (Kathleen). Wonderful grandmother of Kevin, Anne, Emma, Ian, Jamie, Jason and Lexy, and great-grandmother of Justin and Tara Lee. Dear sister of Ted (Olive) and sister-in-law, Freda, all of England.

Muriel was a longtime and faithful member of Calvary United Church, Kitchener. Never one to sit still, Muriel was involved in numerous activities in the community, including Women's Institute, United Church Women, Rockway Seniors Centre, The Happy Hoofers Walking Group, and was a gifted seamstress.

Originally from Middlesbrough, England, Muriel lived a life of adventure with her husband, Bill, and their travels took them from England to Africa, and eventually to Canada where they settled for the last 20 plus years.

At the family’s request cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Muriel’s life on Friday, March 2nd, 2012 at Calvary United Church, 91 Gruhn St., Kitchener at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Lynn Bandy officiating. (Family to receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.)
