
Of Waterloo, Ontario died Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at St. Mary's General Hospital after a brave battle against lung failure.
Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, November 4, 1945, to Wendell and Jean McCain. In 1963, Terry became a quadriplegic (C6 - C7) after a diving accident in Lake Temiskaming,Ontario.
Terry was an excellent student who received his Bachelor of Arts (Honours English, Co-operative Program) in 1989, as well as his Masters of Arts (English) in 1992, from the University of Waterloo. Terry also received many academic awards including winning the 1986 Co-operative Education Association Student Essay Competition.
He went on to teach an English course on Essay Writing, at the University of Waterloo. He was a writer for Premier Davis at Queens Park for a short time and he was also involved with the Oxford English Dictionary when it was being put on line at the University of Waterloo. Terry also loved to attend concerts, walk his dogs, watch movies, surf the net and enjoy the company of his friends.
Terry is survived by his partner Cathy Foote; his miniature poodle, Zoe; his only niece Tara and her husband Todd and their twin girls Ava and Olivia. Terry is also survived by the McCain family originating from Florenceville New Brunswick. Terry had survived his parents and both his older brother Bruce, as well as his younger brother John.
Terry’s family will receive friends and relatives at Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home, 51 Benton at Church St., Kitchener at 2pm on Saturday, August 11, 2012. A short memorial service will follow at 3 pm.
