Ada Lorene Jones Kizer - age 94, passed away peacefully September 9, 2026. Ada was born on December 13, 1931, on a farm near Friendsville, TN and attended Friendsville High School. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She and her husband, Don, owned Kizer’s Restaurant near the Knoxville Airport on Alcoa Highway. After that, she worked at Knox County Schools in Food Service at several different schools. She was a dedicated member of Second United Methodist Church. She participated in Feeding the Homeless Program, Trew Homebuilders Class and Friendship Circle.
She is preceded in death by her husband Don Kizer; parents Shirley and Beryl Smith Jones; siblings Margaret Mahood, Howard Jones, Dorothy Jones, Earnest Jones, Edna Rubio, Nancy Westbrook, Shirley “Buster” Jones Jr. She is survived by her brother Joe Jones, sister Nellie Al-Saigh; son Bob Kizer, daughters Jeri Kizer Frederick, and Donna Marie Kizer Horton (Vesser); grandchildren Ryan Frederick, Annie Frederick Malina, Derrick Horton, Jarred Horton and Craig Sorrell; grandchildren, Koleson Horton, Corbin Horton, Jackson Horton and Cora Malina.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 15 from 3:00-4:30 with a service to follow. Refreshments will be provided after the service. Berry Highland South, 9010 E. Simpson Rd., Knoxville, TN . She will be buried later with her husband in the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway.
