

Douglas, Alice Grigsby- age 89, died on Sunday, September 19, 2010. She was a life-long resident of the Mt. Olive Community and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Alice was the last surviving child of the Reverend Stephen C. and Grace Grigsby. She was retired from First Tennessee Bank with 30 years of service. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 47 years, Sam E. Douglas; brothers, James Ferrell, Stephen Clifford, Floyd Edward and John Booker Grigsby; sisters, Margaret Nichols and Myrtle Lois Grigsby. Survived by son, Steve Douglas and wife Jennifer of Walla Walla Washington, daughters, Lois Douglas and partner Melanie Norton, Gaye Parrott and husband Wayne; grandchildren, Amanda May and husband Gerald, Leigh Terry and husband Brian; Joey Parrott and wife Tiffany, Grace Logan Douglas all of Knoxville, and Christine, Annie, and Sam Douglas of Seattle Washington; great grandchildren, Brilee Grace Terry, Bryce Christopher Terry and Anderson Lynn May; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank and Juanita Douglas; sisters-in-law, Margaret Douglas, Wilma Douglas and Jean Knight and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thanks to Sandra Farmer and Sherrie Stewart of Northhaven Health Care for their love and care. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with a celebration of life service to follow at 7:00 PM., Dr. Deron Cobb officiating. Memorials may be made to the music department at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 2500 Maryville Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920. Family and friends will meet Thursday at 10:15 AM at Berry Funeral Home and will proceed in procession to Mt. Olive Cemetery for an 11:00 AM interment service. Pallbearers are Steve Douglas, Wayne Parrott, Joey Parrott, Johnny Grigsby, Jimmy Grigsby, Scotty Grigsby and Paul Baxter.
