Joyce attended Central High School in Inskip, TN. During WWII, she worked at Brown’s Cafeteria where she met her beloved husband, Robert A. Spraker (Bob), who served with the Signal Constr. Battalion, Omaha Beach D+1. She spent the war years working at Chapman Drug Company. Joyce was devoted to the war effort and maintained an interest in the people she and Bob met during his service. Later they traveled Europe with the members and spouses of his unit. They made their home for 50 years in the Topside Little River Community and was a member of Inskip Baptist Church since 1927. Joyce was well loved by her 12 nieces and nephews and 17 grand nieces and nephews whom she cherished. She was such a wonderful aunt that she was known to all even outside the family as “Aunt Joyce”.
Joyce was an accomplished artist and a member of the Tennessee Artists. She loved her garden, was a certified University of Tennessee Master Gardener, and a member of the Topside Garden Club.
After the passing of her second husband, Stanley Hamilton, Joyce lived out her remaining many years independently, often accompanied by her loving sister, Mary Frances Long Holley.
Joyce is preceded In death by her husband of 45 years, Robert A. Spraker; husband of 11 years, Stanley F. Hamilton; parents, John A. Long and Sarah Justus Long; beloved brother, Clay Justus Long; sister-in-law, Rose Spraker Yates; niece, JoAnn Long Richards; nephew, Arthur R. Holley; grand niece, Rylee Kinnett. She is survived by her beloved sister, Mary Frances Long Holley; nieces, Linda Long Deaver, Teresa Holley Frazier, Pam Long Douglas, Angela J. Holley, Donna Long Ozier, and Melissa S. Holley, and niece, Joy Hamilton (Julian) Norid; nephews, Scott (Noelle) Yates, Ted (Kenda) Yates, Trey Spraker; and many cherished grand nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held for Joyce on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 11:00 am. Officiated by Phil Rains at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery.
