Amir Sami Rizk, age 41, of Midland, Texas, passed away on December 30, 2021, at Houston Methodist Hospital. He was an accomplished and innovative engineer and project manager who took on challenging posts in the energy sector, spanning from the U.S. where he grew up and completed his education to Nigeria, U.A.E., Iraq, Qatar, and his home country of Egypt where he spent his childhood.
He was a devoted husband and father, a central pillar to his immediate and extended family, and a sincere friend to countless individuals all over the world. Amir lived life to its fullest and had a spark in his eyes, was loving and humble, with a magnetic personality that brought happiness to those around him. He was impulsive, perhaps even rash at moments, but always kind, generous, and with unlimited energy. When he fell ill, many of us assumed that his recovery would eventually form the basis of yet another improbable story that we could all eventually laugh at. His sudden and untimely passing leaves a hole that will not be filled, but he left us with indelible memories marked by his larger than life personality and big heart.
He is the son of Dr. Shahira Baligh Selim, who preceded him in death, and Dr. Sami Rizk.
He is survived by his wife Manal Abbas, and their two children, Rafi and Tara; his sister Rana Rizk; his uncles and aunts Dr. Hani Rizk, Dr. Samia Rizk Hanna and her husband Dr. Wahid Hanna, Dr. Shadia Baligh Selim and her husband Medhat Maurice, Dr. Sherin Baligh Selim and his wife Dr. Sonia Adol; his cousins Michael Wahid Hanna and his wife Mandy Lam and their children Sophie, Mia, and Tamer, Joe Rizk and his wife Rasha Odeh, Dina Rizk and her husband Robin Mills, Dr. Yasmin Medhat Maurice and her husband Dr. Sami el-Daief and their daughter Lara, Ramy Medhat Maurice and his wife Nancy Banoub and their children Lucas and Lily, Dr. Ramez Sherin, and Dr. Akram Sherin; his mother-in-law Rajaa Awada; and his brother and sister-in law Ali Abbas and Amale Abbas Rafei.
