Amos was born on June 23, 1929, to Columbus and Minnie Hensley of Union County TN. He is survived by his sons Ron Hensley, Tim Hensley, Rickey Hensley, and his stepdaughters Teresa Ormond and Shannon Skaggs. Grandchildren (13), Great Grandchildren (18), and Great-Great Grandchildren (2).
Amos was preceded in death by (3) of his wives: Mary Ruth Tidwell Hensley, Patricia Brown Yowell Hensley, and Carolyn Fulcher Thompson Hensley.
Amos was a kind and loving man. He was wonderful to all his family whether you were his biological family or acquired by marriage. He treated everyone the same, loved everyone the same, and claimed everyone as his own.
He served in the Korean War and truly loved being in the Army. He began his newspaper career in Knoxville TN and then transferred to The Indianapolis Star & News in Indianapolis IN. He spent most of his newspaper career at the Indianapolis Star & News where he retired in 1991 with at total of 42 years in the newspaper industry.
He loved to garden, go to yard sales, flea markets, travel, play games at the kitchen table, and be with family. He was a true family man, great friend and wonderful neighbor.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew, loved and cared for him.
