
Mary Andralynn Underwood, born February 5, 1946, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, was the middle of five children. She graduated from Karns High School, attended Tennessee Wesleyan College, and earned her Master of Arts from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Andy was a devoted daughter, wife, and mother who invested tremendous energy into her son, family, and friends. She treated everyone she met with decency and kindness. She was a gifted cook, loved animals, and lived her Christian faith daily, finding God’s presence in life’s simplest joys.
Andy was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt known for her sweetness, quick wit and common sense. She is best remembered by her family for her warmth and love, always hugging and kissing her granddaughters, and telling us regularly how much she loved us.
She leaves behind her son, Robert Louis Sterchi (wife and daughter-in-law Jessica) and four granddaughters, Prater (13), Leigh (11), Reed (9) and Isabelle (7). She also leaves behind her sisters, Judy Edwards and Nancy Brown, and her brothers, John Underwood, and Allen Underwood, as well as 7 nieces and 3 nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Jenkins Underwood, and her father, Gilbert White Underwood.
Andy left an indelible mark on all her friends and family with her goodness and innocence. She is dearly missed.
A memorial service and celebration of her amazing life will be held at Berry Highland Memorial Chapel Mausoleum on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 11am.
