Andy attended Young High School, Class of 1944. Out of high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II where he served for 2 years. During his time in the Army, he earned 3 overseas service bars, a bronze battle star, army of occupation medal, and good conduct medal. He went on to attend the University of Tennessee, graduating from TN College of Law. In 1961, Andy earned his law degree and went into private practice. In 1968, he was elected to Knox County General Sessions Court, where he served through 1989. Andy loved Tennessee Sports, his church, Graystone Presbyterian; he served his church, country, community, and family. He was a member of the Burlington Masonic Lodge # 763.
Preceded in death by his mother and father, Andrew and Annie Evans; and sister, Betty Warren.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 67 years, Avis Evans; sons, Philip Evans and Thomas Evans (Michelle); granddaughter, Molly Evans; brother, Kenneth Evans; nieces and nephews: Sherry, Mark, Kenny, Julia, Rosemary, and Jane, as well as other loved nieces and nephews, and loved pets.
Family will receive friends from 12:00 - 2:00 PM Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM, Rev. Les Rust officiating. Family and friends will immediately proceed to Woodlawn Cemetery for interment to follow the funeral service.
