

Longtime Knoxville resident, Ann Pond Stowers, died May 30, 2026 at Westminster Canterbury in Lynchburg, VA. She was born October 3, 1926 to Harold Covington and Margaret Carlyle Pond spending her childhood in Scarsdale, New York and later graduating from Wellesley College. In December, 1948 she and Richard Frazier Stowers were married. They moved to Knoxville in 1960 when her husband and his 2 brothers founded Stowers Machinery Corporation.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold Covington and Margaret Carlyle Pond; her husband, Richard Frazier Stowers; infant daughter, Ann Covington Stowers; brothers John Pond and James Pond; and daughter-in-law Frances Stowers. She is survived by her son, Dick Stowers (Judy) of Lynchburg, Va., her daughter, Margo Hall (Joe) of Knoxville, Tn., as well as grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
