Audrey Nell McGowan

Born in St. Clair County, Alabama, Audrey devoted her life to caring for and loving her family. Spirited, upbeat, and full of life, Audrey was like a second mother to many neighborhood children and to the friends of her children, Mike, Chris, and Kimberly. She was always appreciative of anything anyone did for her or her family, and her warmth and joyful spirit made her truly a delight to all who knew and loved her.

Audrey was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul McGowan, Sr.; daughter, Kimberly McGowan; parents, Isaac Albert and Mittie Scarbrough Jones; siblings, Ulma Hill, Christine Mize, William “Dub” Jones, Pauline “Polly” Hampton, Albert Jones, Ardell Turner, Lawrence Jones, and Carol Melton.

She is survived by her sons, Dr. Paul “Mike” McGowan, Jr. (Jean) of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Christopher McGowan (Una) of Marietta, Georgia; grandchildren, Paul McGowan III (Dr. Erin), Gavin McGowan, and Justin Rich (Danielle); and great-grandson, Mason McGowan, all of Knoxville, Tennessee.

A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at the Berry Highland Memorial Mausoleum Chapel in Knoxville, Tennessee with Reverend Glenna Manning officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Concord United Methodist Church - Mission Fund, 11020 Roane Drive, Knoxville, TN 37934.

The McGowan family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to all of the wonderful caregivers, friends, and loved ones who cared for Audrey and supported the family through difficult days.
