Barbara was retired after many years as a realtor with Coldwell Banker Wallace and Wallace (Wallace Realtors.) She also worked alongside her family for 25 years with Stanley's Greenhouse as bookkeeper. Barbara was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Seymour. She was born August 27, 1940, the eldest child of Charles and Mary Kathryn Stanley, founders of Stanley's Greenhouse in South Knoxville. Barbara was a graduate of South High School Class of 1957.
Preceded in death by parents Charles and Mary Kathryn Stanley; brother-in-law, David Cox and sister-in-law, Lisa Stanley.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Barton; daughter, Lezlie Raney and husband Rusty; son, David Barton and wife Christy; grandsons: Nicholas Raney (Erika), John Barton (Whitney), Wesley Raney (Natalie), Jake Barton (Alexandra), and Josh Barton (Morgan); great grandchildren: Ty, Emma and Charlie Raney, Colton Barton, Emilia Barton, Liam and Lana Barton, and three great granddaughters on the way; brothers, Monte Stanley (Ann Whitney) and Rocky Stanley; sister-in-law, Judy Barton Cox; as well as many other cherished family members and family friends.
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Southside Baptist Church, 1620 W. Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville with a funeral service to follow beginning at 7:00 PM. Rev. David Jeffers, of Bible Baptist Church Seymour will be officiating.
Family and friends will meet Tuesday, September 8 , 2026 at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville for a 10:00 AM Committal Service. Serving as Pallbearers: Rusty Raney, Nicholas Raney, John Barton, Wesley Raney, Jake Barton and Josh Barton.
