Barbara Mink Newman

Barbara was a 1950 graduate of Central High School and spent her life devoted to her faith, her family, and serving others. She loved the Lord deeply and was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church of Bearden, where she cherished her church family. She also held dear the many friendships and memories from her years at Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

Barbara was known for her outstanding work ethic and warm, welcoming spirit. She retired from Green Bank after 20 years of dedicated service before beginning a second career as a food demonstrator at Sam's Wholesale. She genuinely loved meeting people, and her customers and coworkers quickly became like family. Her kindness, cheerful smile, and servant's heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Parrish; and her brothers, Emory, Bruce, Bill, Charlie, Roy, and John Mink.

Barbara leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her sons, Joseph Scott Newman, Jeffrey Allen Newman, and Mark Edward Newman; her daughter, Susan Shipley and husband, Steve; her grandchildren, Laura Tomlin (Josh), Landon Shipley (Emily Restin Shipley), Nathan Newman, Allie Newman (Andy McFall); and her great-grandchildren, Ellie Tomlin, Delilah Newman, Darcy Newman, Wyatt McFall, Waylon McFall, and Whitley McFall. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Barbara's life was a beautiful example of faith, hard work, kindness, and unconditional love. Her legacy will live on through the family she treasured, the friends she made, and the countless lives she touched throughout her 93 years.

"Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6

Family and friends will meet Monday, July 27, 2026, at Lynnhurst Cemetery, 2300 Adair Drive, Knoxville, TN 37918 for a 1:00 PM Graveside Service.
