

Born October 2, 1939, in Covington, VA, she was the daughter of the late Donald Cook, and the late Helen (Cook) Jones.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband Raymond Floyd Pavone Jr. of sixty-one years, and three siblings: Donald Cook, Larry Cook, and Judy Cook. She is survived by two sisters: Peggy Murray, and Sue Wheelehan (Gary).
Barbara was blessed with three children: Raymond Pavone (Suzani) of Knoxville, TN, Donald Pavone of Forest, VA, and Cynthia Dark (Dan) of Omaha, NE; four grandchildren, Amanda Neville (Frank), Cole Preston (Andrea), Matthew Pavone (Sarah), and Mary Pavone; four great grandchildren, Asher and Cason Neville, and Livia and Nora Preston; and loved by many other family members and friends.
Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a retired federal employee after 30 years working for various divisions of the government. Barbara enjoyed being with family, bus trips with the church, reading, and cooking. She had a talent for making family gatherings and holidays memorable. Barbara, known for her spotless, welcoming home, was a sincere and organized soul. Her home was a sanctuary of love, devoted to her family, and she lived a simple contented life.
A private memorial service for family will be held, followed by a reception for friends and extended family from 2-4pm on Friday, March 27th, at Berry Highland West Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
