Bart Theodore Goddard Jr., 95, of Powell, Tennessee, was born October 4, 1930, in Knoxville, Tennessee, and died May 26, 2026. Throughout a long life marked by steady purpose and quiet devotion, Bart carried himself with a straightforward integrity and a work ethic that never asked for attention—only results. Even in serious moments, his dry humor could lighten the room, reminding those around him that honesty and laughter often belong together.
Bart attended Bonny Kate Elementary School and later received his GED while serving in the Air Force. He served in the U. S. Army for three years and went on to retire from the Air Force after 20 years of service—years defined by discipline, dependability, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
He was married to Marion Virginia Vineyard for 70 years, building a life rooted in loyalty, perseverance, and the kind of everyday care that endures. Bart’s love for family life was matched by his enjoyment of simple pleasures: bowling, camping, and playing baseball—pastimes that reflected his steady spirit and appreciation for time well spent.
Bart was a 32nd degree Free Mason. In all he did, he was known as someone who worked for everything he had and saved with intention—living with practicality, responsibility, and an unshakable sense of what mattered.
He is survived by his children: Carol Knox (Phillip), Douglas Goddard, Gary Goddard, Tamme Beal (David), and Teresa Allen (Gary). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Scott Allen, Casey Allen (Missy), Cary Francis (Lynn), Amy Weishaupt (Gary), Cory Goddard (Allyson), Kyle Goddard (Samantha), Amanda Combs (Patrick), Courtney Stroupe (Jamison), Stephaney Dukes (Mark), Michael Allen (Tiffany), and Kayla Loyd (Robbie); and by his step-granddaughter, Christie Kreischer: 28great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Goddard, and his daughter, Debora Goddard.
A Committal Service will be held May 30, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm at Berry Highland South Mausoleum, 9010 E. Simpson Road, Knoxville, TN.
