

Wolfenbarger, “Joe” Benny-age 80, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010. Joe graduated from Gibbs High School and attended Carson Newman College where he played basketball. He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. After returning from the service, he began his career with Exxon and retired after 30 years of service. Joe was a gifted wood worker and helped his wife, Genevieve, with her crafts. A longtime Sunday school teacher in the Triumphant Men’s class and the Director of the Adult V Department, Joe was a member of Meridian Baptist Church. He also was a member of Gideons International. Preceded in death by wife, Genevieve Garner Wolfenbarger; father, James Clifford Knisley and mother, Thelma Knisley; and brother, Jimmy Knisley. Survived by in-laws, Ralph and Inez Rogers, Bobby Reed, John and Norretta Conley and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 pm on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Meridian Baptist Church. A celebration of Joe’s life will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Dana Fachman officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 am, Monday, January 3rd at Woodlawn Cemetery for interment. Honorary pallbearers will be the Triumphant Men’s Class. Full military honors will be presented by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideons International of Knoxville, P.O.
