Norton Sr., Bernard-age 89, of Knoxville went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, October 13, 2010. Mr. Norton was a decorated WWII veteran, having received the Purple Heart. He retired from the University of Tennessee Athletic Department. Preceded in death by wife, Martha Marie Norton; 5 brothers and 4 sisters. Survivors include daughter, Carrie L. Crisp; son, Bernard Norton Jr.; 2 sisters; grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends, Friday, October 15th from 5:00-7:00 pm in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm, Pastor Buster Gibson officiating. Family and friends will meet at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Saturday, October 16th at 11:00 am for interment.
