

Bettie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Donald R. Pitts; her parents, Bernice and Harry Nettles; her son, David W. Pitts; her brother, Harry Nettles II; and her nephews, George and Rodney Nettles.
She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Brenda (Martin) Migliore, and Leslie Pitts; her cherished grandchildren, Ian (Misty) Stewart, Hunter and Hannah Mielke; and her great-granddaughter, Griffin Stewart; nephews, Jack, Mark and Mike Nettles.
Bettie devoted many years of her life to working with special education children, a calling that reflected her compassionate and giving spirit. She enjoyed fabric painting, baking her famous pound cake, and singing with Donald. Together, they loved playing Rook and Mexican Train. Bettie especially found joy in serving and helping others. Through their generosity and faith, Bettie and Donald financially helped build two small churches in Brazil.
A celebration of Bettie’s life will be held on Thursday, June 4 at 3:00 p.m. at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home, 5315 Kingston Pike, with Rev. Glen Sullivan officiating the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bettie’s memory to the charity of your choice.
