She was a former member of Meridian Baptist Church and sang in the choir, taught sunday school and active in her Tuesday morning Women's Bible Study at Sevier Heights Baptist Church. She pointed her family and friends to Christ and was a prayer warrior. One of Betty's favorite Bible verses was Psalm 27:4
Preceded in death by husband of 58 years, Eugene W. Burgin; parents, William Loy Ogle and Veatress Julia King Ogle and grandson, Gabriel Burgin Houston; siblings, Willie Mae Adams, Frank Ogle, Lyle Ogle, Cora Ogle, Imogene Ogle, Harold Conley Ogle, Alma Ruth Ogle, James Lynn Ogle and Robert Lewis Ogle.
She is survived by son, Stephen and wife, Judi Burgin, daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and husband, Dale Rhoton and Sandy and husband, David Houston; grandchildren, Rebecca Day and husband, Brian,;Tyler Rhoton and wife, Emily; Ryan Burgin and wife, Christie; Jeremy and wife, Margaret; Josh and wife, Meredith; Elizabeth Claybaker and husband , Ben; Jonathan Houston and wife, Kristy, Rachel Austin and husband, Aaron; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Abby, Lucy, Caroline, Will, Grant, Kate, Brooke, Brock, Maddie, Ford, Emmy, Lyla, Liv, Liam, Tyson, Presley, Abner, Jackson, Emme, Bella, Parker, Knightley, Quinn, Wade, Camden, Allie, Piper, Hudson and Callen; sister, Mary Ann (Tootsie) Winkle Townsend; longtime friend, Jewel Rahe.
Funeral services will be held, Thursday, August 27, 2026 at Meridian Baptist Church at 7 pm with Pastor David Houston and Rev. Dana Fachman officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Thursday prior to the service at Meridian Baptist Church. Family and friends will meet at Berry Funeral Home, Friday, August 28, 2026 at 9 am and process to Woodlawn Cemetery for a 10 am interment service. Pallbearers will be Tyler Rhoton, Ryan Burgin, Jeremy Burgin, Josh Burgin, Jonathan Houston, Brian Day, Ben Claybaker and Aaron Austin.
