Betty grew up in Elizabethton, Tennessee during the Great Depression years and WWII. She participated in many activities and events that shaped her life, Girl Scouts, church groups and filling war-stamp booklets, the precursor to savings bonds. She particularly enjoyed walking to town to get a soda at Taylor Drug Store, where young Bill Hall was a "Soda Jerk".
Betty, Bill and their three daughters moved to Knoxville in 1962, and remained there the rest of their lives.
Betty was a longtime proud UT Vol, having returned to college when Lauren was just 3. She completed a degree in Education in 1966 and began a longtime career in Education. Betty was beloved by both students and peers.
Betty and Bill were both active members of Trinity United Methodist Church and Betty remained an active participant as long as her health permitted. She particularly enjoyed attending her Sunday School class with Lauren and a weekday Bible study as long as possible. Other favorite activities included watching her backyard birds, reading and collecting antiques.
We are very grateful to her Pastor, Barbara Clark, for her attention and care for Betty and her family, especially for her heartfelt prayers. Excellent and professional care has been provided to us by Right at Home. Amedisys Hospice Care has given us wonderful guidance and support. We are so thankful.
