Betty Sue Moorhead Lebow, 88 years old, of Clinton, TN, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 10, 2024. Betty was born August 22, 1935, in West Palm Beach, Florida, to the late Julian Moorhead and Sarah McWhorter Moorhead.
Betty graduated from Cartersville High School in Georgia (1954) where she was an All-State basketball player. She continued to play basketball in college, graduating from Peabody College with a Bachelor’s Degree and went on to get a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Tennessee Tech devoting more than 20 years teaching special education. She had four children with the late William Donald “Bill” Dupes (2011), William F. “Bill” Dupes, Donna Sue Ryan, Mark Andrew Dupes and David Michael Dupes.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Fritz Ennis Lebow, Jr., children Donna Ryan of Charlotte, Mark and wife Hollie of Atlanta and David Dupes of White Pine, step-son Benjamin Lebow, four grandchildren, Rynn and husband Shane Young, Taylor and husband Grant Todd, Megan Dupes and Emery Dupes, and one great grandchild, Cormoran Young. She is preceded in death by her son, William F. “Bill” Dupes (2019), her brothers Col. Ret. John H. Moorhead and Robert Moorhead.
A visitation will be held on June 19, 2024 from 5:00 – 6:30pm, with a celebration of life service to follow at 6:30pm at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville, Tn 37920. Betty will be laid to rest at 10am in the rotunda at East Tennessee Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 2200 East Gov. John Sevier Highway.
