Betty Jo McCurry

Betty Jo McCurry, 86, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away on September 25, 2026. Born on May 23, 1940, Betty Jo will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Raised in a close-knit family, Betty Jo carried a steady spiritual foundation throughout her life. Her faith and resilience helped guide her through life’s seasons, shaping a woman who met both joys and challenges with steadfast devotion and a generous heart.

Betty Jo was married for 28 years, and her love for family remained at the center of her world. She treasured time spent with those she loved. She especially enjoyed Mason family reunions, which brought her back to her childhood and loved getting together with her siblings; sharing laughter and love together.

Betty Jo took genuine pride in her home and the care she poured into it. Her kind-hearted nature showed in the way she created welcoming spaces—thoughtfully decorating, especially for the seasons, and loved the result of gardening and landscaping. Enjoyed the flowers in her front garden and flower beds.

She found simple joys in bird watching and followed sports with enthusiasm, cheering for the Vols and the Braves. Music was another joy in her life, with favorites ranging from Elvis and Rod Stewart to Yanni and Gospel.

Those who knew Betty Jo knew a woman who could be headstrong, yet always deeply devoted—someone whose love was steady, whose compassion was sincere, and whose presence was truly beloved. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the home she nurtured, and the many quiet ways she gave of herself.

Preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ruby Mason; her husband, Daniel McCurry; and siblings, Estel "Bud" Mason (Joyce), Frank Mason (Nona), Lynn Mason (Johnnie), Bill Mason (Helen), Gary Mason (Nancy).

Survived by her daughters, Cindy Davis (John) and Kim Kleckley (Dan); grandchildren, Danielle McNew (Nicole), Eric Kleckley, and Megan Kleckley; sister, Caroline Long; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Ruth Anna, Carolyn, and Rhonda.

Family and friends will receive friends in the Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy Knoxville, TN 37920, on Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 4:00-5:00PM with a service to follow at 5:00PM.

A committal service will be held at Loudon County Memorial Gardens, 6505 US-11 Lenoir City, Tennessee 37771, on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 11:00AM.
