CW4 Billy Jack Cunningham

Bill graduated from Morristown High School, and had a great love for sports, especially football. He received a full scholarship at UT and was honored to play in the 1951 National Championship Team. In 1954, Bill joined the US Army, and then joined the TN National Guard and retired in August of 1993. He loved his country and Army. Bill was married to the love of his life, Pat Cunningham, for 73 years.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Edith Cunningham; siblings, Don Cunningham, Iris McDaniel, Eva Kay Stump, and Pat Standifer; and his granddaughter, Ashley Cunningham.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Cunningham; son, Michael Cunningham; granddaughter, Autumn Cunningham; great-grandson, Brandon Cunningham; great-great-granddaughter, Amoura; brother-in-law, Tom (Pat) Blakely; and his sisters, Betty Sue Trent and Brenda Lambert.

The visitation will be held at Berry Highland West, 9913 Sherrill Blvd, Knoxville, TN 37932, on June 7, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at 6:00 pm. The service will be officiated by Col. Gary Schafer.

The Committal Service with military honors will take place at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920, on June 8, 2026 at 2:00 PM. The family will meet at the cemetery at 1:45 PM.
