Bruce Aaron Burkey of Knoxville went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 25, 2024. He was 67 years old. Born in Sterling, Illinois, Bruce moved to Knoxville with Catherine, his wife, many years ago, where together they enjoyed the beauty of the area, the warm Southern hospitality, and the friends they made. Bruce was a skilled craftsman and a sensitive, kind-hearted man who was generous with his time and affection and would do anything to help someone in need. Having lived for the last 25 years with chronic pain as a result of construction-related injuries, that physical pain is now gone and he is at rest.
Predeceased by his wife, Catherine; his parents, Harold and Donajean; and his brother, Michael.
He is survived by his step-daughter, Monica (Richard) Diberardino; step-son, Earic (Erika) Patten; stepgrandchildren, Rachael, Eben, Brenden, Ethan, and Catherine; step-great grandson, Cooper; four sisters, Kathryn (Derek) Wittner, Janice (Brian) Hoffman, Brenda (Chris) Nagle, and Marcia (Bill) Burkey Uyeda; and one brother-in-law, Bill (Lisa) Stewart, in addition to many nieces and nephews, who lovingly carry on his memory. Bruce was dearly loved and will be missed by family and friends. There will be a private family burial at a later date.
