

Bryan David Pickens age 83 of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015. Mr. Pickens was born and raised in Tippah County, Mississippi. He has been a member of First Baptist Church Knoxville since 1960. A Veteran of the United States Navy, he was a 1959 graduate of Christian Brothers College in Memphis, TN while also working at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Mr. Pickens retired from East Tennessee Baptist Hospital after 47 years of service. He was a member of South Knoxville Rotary Club and served on the South Knoxville Development Board. Preceded in death by his parents Walter and Nola Pickens, brothers Jack, Billy and Charles Pickens. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years Claudette Pickens, children Michelle (Jim) Decker, Melanie (Rob) Stigall, Melinda (Kevin) Thedford and David (Ann) Pickens, grandchildren Benjamin, Brittany and Madeline Decker, Jason (Hannah), Adam and Avery Stigall, Brooks, Natalie and Audrey Thedford, Lauren and Olivia Pickens, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to recognize the care that Bryan received from his doctors Dr. Christopher Sawyer, Dr. Monica Crane and Dr. Robert Martin. The Pickens family will receive friends Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 5-7pm with a Funeral Service to follow 7pm at Berry HIGHLAND MEMORIAL, Chaplain Dan Hix officiating. Family and friends will meet Thursday, December 17, 2015 in the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Gov. John Sevier Hwy. at 11:15am for a 11:30am interment service.
