Buddy Leo Matthews

Matthews, Buddy Leo, age 88, of Seymour passed away on Saturday May 31, 2014 at UT Medical Center. He was a member of Seven Islands Missionary Baptist Church and was a veteran of World War II in the United States Marine Corps, and retired from Sears after 38 years of service. Buddy was preceded in death by: son, Christopher Matthews; parents Troy Matthews and Alene Moore; brothers: Troy, Harry, and Paul; and daughter-in-law Dotty Matthews. Survivors include: wife of 67 years Effie Matthews; son Mark Matthews; grandchildren: Dawn (Dwayne) Smith, Kelly (Richard) Hutcherson, and Brent (Star) Matthews; and great-grandchildren: Courtney, Zachary, Casey, Taylor, Sierra, Sebastian, Alex, and Sophia. The family will receive friends on Monday June 2nd from 6-8 PM at Berry Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at Woodlawn Cemetery on Tuesday June 3rd at 11:00 AM for a graveside service, officiated by Buddy’s son Mark Matthews.
