Carl "Steve" Newman

Carl Steven “Steve” Newman, age 70, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on April 29, 2026. Born on December 28, 1955, Steve spent his life surrounded by family, friends, and the simple joys that brought him happiness. Steve dedicated more than 40 years of his career to UT Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Newman; his mother, Barbara Newman; and his brother, Paul Newman.

Steve is survived by his loving daughters, Alisha Bush (Raymond Bush), Kari Newman-Owens (Gray Owens), and Nikki Newman-Monts (Joseph Monts); and his cherished grandchildren, Daniel, Shyla, and Rowe. He also leaves behind The Caldwell’s and Church’s, including Aiden and Ava, who held a special place in his heart and were considered grandchildren to him.

Steve was a Christian whose faith was an important part of his life, providing him strength, comfort, and guidance throughout the years. He had a passion for life and the hobbies that brought him joy. He was a gun enthusiast, loved attending car shows, and enjoyed building model cars—a tradition he began as a young child alongside his father. Some of his happiest moments were spent on the lake boating, fishing, and waterskiing. If you knew Steve, you knew he was always ready for a good time, a laugh, and making memories with those he cared about.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a receiving of friends on Monday May 5, 2026 from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville TN, 37920.

Steve will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the traditions carried forward, and the many lives he touched throughout his years.
